"Ingleside" by Richard Diebenkorn, 1963. Diebenkorn lived in Ingleside Terraces on Cedro Avenue and on Moncada Way in the 1930's. The curves of the streets and the hills indicate that this painting is a foreshortened view of Mercedes Way looking south from Paloma Avenue. The house on the right is 65 Mercedes Way, farther back on the left is 20 Mercedes Way on the hill at the junction of Cedro and Cerritos Avenues. Merced Heights in the background was added using artistic license. |
